In their day to day operations, GKN wanted to bridge the following gaps.
- Workers not having access to the required information to resolve issues quickly during production.
- Change-overs of equipment and material being slow and error prone.
- Improvement and optimization of workforce utilization.
The Solution
To address these issues, there were several different solutions implemented. At the outset of the implementation journey, workers were equipped with smartwatches to allow for streamlined data access and communications.
Then, using our low-code custom workflow builder, team members at GKN were able to digitize their operations with in house workflows to address some key issues in their machine changeover operations. Additionally, several prebuilt workflow apps were also applied to great effect.
The Results
GKN was able to transform their operations and fundamentally overhaul how work is completed in their plants on all levels.
Increased throughput
Due to digital workflows for machine setups, change-overs and interruption handling downtimes were mitigated. Skills were also optimally leveraged to increase productivity.

Realtime assignment of work based on skills and availability allowed for faster reactions to production decisions.

Due to optimized machine and worker management, GKN was able to reduce WIP inventory.
